Self Catering in Cornwall - Local Information
Self catering in Cornwall is a highly popular holiday choice with parties of all ages. Our range of coastal self catering cottages covers all of Cornwall and we guarantee that we’ve a property – and a great Cornish location – to suit everyone!
Our most popular area for holiday property is Polperro and Looe. These wonderful south coast ports offer visitors a warm welcome full of charm and character. Our holiday cottages in Looe and in Polperro can be found in quiet corners up narrow lanes or right on the waterfront with harbour and estuary views.
Other locations that have proved popular over time are Padstow, on Cornwall’s north coast, which is well known for the “Obby Oss”. A holiday cottage in Padstow puts you conveniently close to "King Arthur Country" around Tintagel and some of the best of North Cornwall’s sand and surf beaches.
Further west, but still on the north coast is Newquay, famous for its nightlife and surfing connections. Holidays in Newquay remain popular with young families also, as the long sandy beaches are great for seaside holidays and there is an abundance of attractions in the locality.
South Coast
Coastal self catering holiday cottages on Cornwall’s south coast offer a relaxing holiday in tranquil surroundings. Taking in Polperro, Looe, Fowey, Liskeard, Downderry and Seaton. Our holiday cottages in Looe and in Polperro are among the most popular self catering holiday cottages in our portfolio. Follow the link to learn more about the area.
Tamar Valley
Enjoy one of our Cornish self catering cottages located in the eastern corner of the county where the Tamar separates Cornwall from Devon. Our holiday properties make the most of their setting with small villages on the Tamar and the coast surrounded by excellent walking country and easy access to the rest of Cornwall.
Falmouth and Roseland
Two peninsulas separated by the Carrick Roads and the river Fal, this area has something for everyone. On the Roseland, green fields, leafy lanes, picturesque villages and some fine sandy beaches await those choosing a holiday cottage in this part of Cornwall. Across the King Harry Ferry, Falmouth is just a short drive away, with its marinas, historic town centre and varied nightlife.
Lizard Peninsula
The Lizard offers some classically “Cornish” coastline and hidden gems such as Cadgwith are a window into the past. Here, too are the dishes of Goonhilly Earth Station which are a well known landmark on an area of open moorland in the centre of the Lizard. Self catering holidays in this part of Cornwall offer a good base from which to explore much of the south and west of the county.
West Cornwall
Lands End, St Michael’s Mount and the Stone Age sites of Penwith can all be explored from one of our holiday properties in west Cornwall. West Cornwall’s coastal self catering holiday cottages provide the added opportunity for day trips to the Scilly Isles by boat or helicopter departing from Penzance.
North Coast and Newquay
Taking in our popular holiday cottages in Padstow as well as Newquay, the North Coast is a place of great beaches, surf and many holiday attractions to suit all the family. In contrast with the larger holiday destinations like Padstow and Newquay you will find coastal self catering cottages in the smaller ports and bays, like Port Isaac, home of "Doc Martin".
Mid West Cornwall
This is the former industrial heartland of Cornwall’s mining past. During your stay at one of our self catering holiday cottages in mid-west Cornwall you will see numerous engine houses which are so much a symbol of Cornwall. Why not venture down a mine during your visit or hire a bike and follow the old cross-county railway between Portreath and Bissoe?
Bodmin and Bodmin Moor
The moor offers a dramatic contrast in terms of scenery and atmosphere to other parts of Cornwall. The area has a good supply of self catering holiday accommodation from which you can explore the moor, travel on the Bodmin steam railway or visit fine country houses like Pencarrow and Lanhydrock. This is a good central location from which to explore most of the county including the Eden Project.
